Notice to Employer / Source of Income
Payment Remittance
Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring that our children receive the child support
and medical support they need and deserve. In order for the BCSE to quickly and
efficiently process these payments, we are providing some additional information
that may assist you with your remittances. WV Code requires that amounts withheld
for child support payments be remitted to the BCSE on the same day that the employee
is paid. There is certain information that is required to be submitted with the
payments to ensure they are credited to the correct employer and employee. For a
blank wage transmittal form, click here. Whether you submit your payments by check or
Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), the BCSE must have the appropriate identifying
information.
Checks and Other Banking Instruments
If you remit payment in this manner, you may use the Employer Wage Transmittal form
sent to you monthly. It contains a list of your employees that the BCSE shows as
subject to income withholding. It also contains the necessary information to post
a payment.
If you choose not to use the Employer Wage Transmittal to remit payments, you must
include the following information with your payments for each employee whose income
is being withheld:
- Your Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN)
- Employee name and social security number
- Case number
- Amount withheld for each employee
- Withholding date (usually the date employee is paid)
- Employee date of last pay
The above information can be obtained from the income withholding notice.
Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
EFT is the electronic exchange of money without the use of paper checks or currency.
EFT can provide your company savings in operating costs such as postage, mail time,
paperwork reduction and accuracy.
If you choose to remit via EFT, there are required specifications for transmitting
child support payments that include the necessary information for us to post the
payments electronically. We are able to accept EFT payments in the National Automated
Clearing House Association (NACHA) CCD+ and CTX formats.
Please contact the WV Bureau for
Child Support Enforcement at (304) 558-1134 or toll-free (800) 835-4683
for more information.
